Scented oils have been a favorite of mankind and womankind for thousands of years. The ancient Sumerians knew about scented oils and how to make them. We call them Essential Oils today.
Basically, an essential oil is a suspension made by distilling liquid from the parts of a plant that has some medicinal and/or aromatherapy use. The leaves and stems ,flowers, bark roots or other parts of the plant can be used. Most of the time the process used is hot steam.
Some of the Essential Oils are Amber or orange in color, but most are clear. They are not slippery feeling in general and are anti-bacterial.

Essential oils are not the same as perfume or fragrance oils. Where essential oils are derived from the true plants, perfume oils are artificially created fragrances or contain artificial substances and do not offer the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer.
